Since it’s founding 1852 Charles Singleton (CS) Bell’s legacy continues on today via 3 entities. The original C S Bell Co continues production of milling and grinding equipment in Tiffin, Ohio. C S Bell bells continue to be made today at a foundry in Washington State and sold by Prindle Station Bells. ‘The Home Office’ in Hillsboro lives on via this website.
Our objective here at the home office is is to communicate and share everything C S Bell: the history, products, bell information, photos, value estimates and age determination.
A product of CS Bell’s Secret Formula,54 inches in diameter, weighting 3,150 pounds, it is mounted on a specially designed base of precast concrete vaults. Mike Ames conceived the idea of a precast structure. JK Precast of Washington Court House Ohio designed and cast the base. Time capsules, containing historical artifacts, were placed in the vaults.
The bell is housed in a belfry measuring 8’ square by 8’ feet high. Larry, Josh & Cody Barr of Barr Construction built the frame out of steel-braced heavy timbers wrapped in cedar.
Pam Kellough, of Pamela Kellough Murals, provided artwork of period signage on the wall running from the alley to the building, as well as artwork on the smooth concrete vaults. The artwork was provided to communicate the history of the company and the bell, as well as recognizing contributors who are encouraged to attend the dedication. Also encouraged to attend are Bells Foundry employees, families, friends, bell enthusiasts and history buffs.
