This envelope would have been used from 1882-1894 when the company went by C. S. Bell & Co.
250,000 bells made is an astonishing number. Records indicate that in the year of 1889 alone, 20,000 20 inch or larger bells were cast. They were loaded up on horse drawn wagons, trains and ships to be delivered around the world. In 1889 Bells Foundry was, and retains the record today as the largest manufacturer of cast iron bells in the world. There simply were no comparisons.
